I have a Sony HDR-SR11. I have the choice of shooting in AVCHD but when I play it back, after downloading it onto my computer and then on to a DVD, it plays choppy. Why is that, and how can I overcome that?
AVCHD is well known for being a bit of a pain when it comes to editing, as most editing programs do not support it (Sony Movie Studio does), but the main reason it will look juddery on your computer is normally because your computer isn't powerful enough to cope with HD video.
When you say you put it on DVD, have you burned a DVD or just put the AVCHD video on a blank DVD and tried to watch it on your computer?
If it is the latter, then the problem will still be your computer not coping with the extra demands that HD places on it. You really need a Quad Core processor, 1GB video card and 4GB RAM to edit HD video smoothly.
Hope that helps?
