Camcorder not recording sound with wireless mic

by peter
(monterey CA)

I have an AIPTEK HD 1080P camcorder and an Azden wireless mic set up. I can monitor the sound with headphones but when I record the sound is not recorded. I just hear a hiss during playback. I have it hooked up right. What am I missing here?

Hi Peter

I'm not familiar with your camcorder, but I have a couple of thoughts.

These type of mics are distance limited. If you are too far from the mic you will only get static. A low battery will reduce the distance even further. If you need to record sound greater then 20 feet away you will probably need to buy a professional quality mic. Your distance may vary depending on whether you are indoors or out and if there are any other electronic interferences.

Any wireless device can have interference from other radio waves - even fluorescent lights can cause static. Try a different location.

If your camcorder requires stereo input, you might have to buy an adapter as this mic only puts out mono sound.

Hope that helps
